You want to be safe when your out on the road and you want to be comfortable too, so it's really important to inspect your shock absorbers once a year or every 12,000 miles.

If your VUE is bouncing down the road while you're trying to drive, then chances are you've got worn shocks.  But, that's not the only way to test for signs of worn shocks. Here are a few things to check for:

  • Do you experience 3 or more bounces when crossing dip?
  • When stopping quickly, does your VUE rock back and forth several times?
  • While applying your brakes firmly at higher speeds does your VUE drift left or right?
  • Does your VUE rock or sway side to side when changing lanes quickly?
  • On a tight curve does your VUE lean and sway with a disconnected feeling?

The most noticeable advantage of a shock absorber is that they work hand in hand with the springs to "absorb" many of the road bumps and in return you get a smoother ride. Without properly working shocks your VUE would be bouncing around on the springs.

You want control while driving your VUE, so, functioning shocks are not just something you want, you need them for your Saturn VUE. When you're driving, your tires only make contact with the road on a pretty small part of the tires.
