Rear Coil Spring & Shock Removal InstructionsStep 1
Caution: A sudden release of pressure may cause personal injury or damage to the vehicle. The air suspension system is under pressure until the air supply lines are disconnected. Use the following precautions when servicing the air suspension system: Wear gloves, ear protection, and eye protection. Wrap a clean cloth around the air supply lines. The vehicle must be raised to perform this conversion! Use proper lifting equipment only! Read instructions carefully before attempting installation, if you have problems during the install then feel free to call our Technical Support Line. Please before calling for technical help, have your invoice handy.
- While vehicle is still on the ground remove the upper shock mounting bolt. This is located in rear compartment under the side trim panels. Fig 1
- Raise vehicle and support.
- Remove rear wheels.
- Locate the fluid control valve under the passenger side of vehicle above rear axle. Find the bleeder valve and drain the hydraulic fluid from the system. Fig 2 (Caution) Fluid is under pressure. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION!
- Disconnect fluid control arm from sway bar.
- Permanently secure the control valve arm in the middle position with zip ties. Fig 3 (This stops fluid flow.)
- Remove the rubber shock hose at the metal line connector. Fig 4
- Install the supplied brass cap onto the metal line connector and tighten until the connector will not spin. Fig 5
- Remove the control arm shield. Fig 6
- Remove the two lower shock retaining bolts. Fig 7 Remove shock.
- Raise control arm approximately two inches and remove the lower sway bar link bolt. Fig 8
- While control arm is still up remove the track locator bar and the torque bar. Fig 9 & 10
- Again while arm is up remove the control arm to hub bolt. Fig 11
- With the hub bolt out, lift and pull the hub assembly out of the control arm. (CAUTION) Spring is under pressure until you lower the control arm.
- Lower the control arm to remove the spring. Fig 12
- Removal is complete.
- Repeat Removal steps for opposite side of vehicle.
Rear Conversion Kit Installation InstructionsStep 2
- Remove the bolt and large washer from the supplied black puck assembly. Fig 1.
- Place the large washer on the bolt up through the underside of the control arm. Center the washer to the control arm hole. Fig 2.
- On the inside of the control arm spring pocket, place the black puck flat side down over the bolt. Followed by the smaller washer and nut. Fig 3
- Before tightening make sure to push the puck towards the inside of the car. Refer to Fig 3
- Tighten the assembly. Larger offset portion towards inside of car.
- Install the new spring with the flat bottom down onto the black puck and the upper into the stepped rubber isolator. Fig 4 & 5
- With the spring seated in position raise the control arm up until you are able to reinstall the hub into the control arm and install hub bolt. (HINT) A spring compressor may aid in installation.
- After the hub bolt is in place, reinstall track bar, torque bar and sway bar links. Tighten all bolts.
- Install the supplied shock with the bottom mounting hole placed into the old shocks outer bolt hole, next to the sway bar bolt. Tighten bolt. Fig 6
- Raise the lower control arm and guide the upper shock stud through mounting hole. Install hardware inside car and tighten. Fig 7
- Check that all bolts are tight. Reinstall control arm shield ( Some trimming may be required to install.)
- Repeat all steps on opposite side of vehicle.
- Install wheels and lower car to the ground.
- Before starting car!. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock ten times to purge air from the steering system.
- Start car and check for leaks at the brass caps in the rear. Fig 8
- If no leaks, turn the steering wheel lock to lock ten times and then check the fluid level in the reservoir tank. Fill tank as needed. Refer to owners manual for fluid type and filling procedure. Fig 9 (CAUTION) failure to fill reservoir tank to proper height may lead to power steering failure. If you have any steering noise it may take up to 30 miles of driving to completely purge the air from the steering system.
