Getting Started

  1. Disconnect Battery
  2. Read general service precautions
  3. Wear Eye Protection
  4. Support the vehicle
  5. Remove air suspension parts
  6. Install conversion kit

Tools needed for installation:

  • Metric sockets
  • Metric wrenches
  • Floor jack or vehicle lift
  • Jack stands
  • Level Work Surface
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and Flat-Head)
  • Allen wrenches and metric torque bits
  • Wire cutter
  • Spring Compressor

Front Air Strut Removal InstructionsStep 1

Caution: A sudden release of pressure may cause personal injury or damage to the vehicle. The air suspension system is under pressure until the air supply lines are disconnected. Use the following precautions when servicing the air suspension system: Wear gloves, ear protection, and eye protection. Wrap a clean cloth around the air supply lines. The vehicle must be raised to perform this conversion! Use proper lifting equipment only! Read instructions carefully before attempting installation, if you have problems during the install then feel free to call our Technical Support Line. Please before calling for technical help, have your invoice handy.

  1. Support vehicle while the tires are still touching the ground.
  2. Open hood and locate the upper air struts mounting studs. They are under the corner cowl grill screens, see Fig 1.
  3. Remove the cover retaining nuts. Remove cover, see Fig 2.
  4. Slowly loosen the air line retaining nut and allow any air pressure to escape. Remove the line by pulling up, see Fig 3. CAUTION: Vehicle will drop down when any pressure is released from air strut so make sure vehicle is supported!
  5. Remove two of the stud nuts and loosen the third, but do not remove yet see Fig 4.
  6. Raise vehicle and remove tires.
  7. Remove the brake & ABS line retaining bolt to remove from the strut. Fig 5.
  8. Remove the ABS line plastic bracket from strut, see Fig 6.
  9. Remove the sway bar link retaining nut, and remove from strut, see Fig 7.
  10. Remove the two lower strut mounting bolts, see Fig 8.
  11. Separate lower strut from spindle arm. Note: Do not allow spindle hub to fall back towards you as it may pull CV joint out.
  12. While holding lower strut, remove the loosened stud nut from above and remove strut from the vehicle.
  13. Repeat on opposite side of vehicle.

  1. Remove upper retaining stud nuts and washers set aside.
  2. Place strut up into wheel well and align the upper studs with the existing holes. Push studs through the holes and place washers and nuts on the studs and tighten, see Fig 1.
  3. Place spindle arm into the lower struts mounting bracket and insert bolts and nuts and tighten, see Fig 2.
  4. Connect sway bar link to the new strut using the removed nut and tighten, see Fig 3.
  5. Install the brake & ABS line bracket onto the strut with the removed bolt and tighten, see Fig 4.
  6. Clip the ABS plastic wire retainer onto strut, see Fig 4.
  7. Make sure all bolts are tight and install wheels. Torque lugs to factory specs.
  8. Lower vehicle and replace the upper strut cover over the air line and tighten, see Fig 5 & Fig 6.
  9. Replace cowl screen, see Fig 7.
  10. Remove the air compressor relay, located under the brake fluid bottle by remove the bolts holding the bottle, see Fig 8. Pull the large relay closest to the fender, see Fig 9. Reinstall bottle.

Rear Air Strut Removal InstructionsStep 3

  1. Support vehicle while tires are still touching the ground.
  2. Open the rear door and locate the upper strut mounting studs under the wheel well trim panel, see Fig 1.
  3. Remove two of the three stud nuts. Only loosen the third nut, see Fig 2.
  4. Raise vehicle and remove tires.
  5. Remove the air line at the top section of the air bag by using an SST line remover or cutting, see Fig 3. Note: Bag may be under pressure. Always wear eye protection.
  6. Remove the ABS line retaining bolt, see Fig 4.
  7. Remove the brake-line retaining bolt, see Fig 5.
  8. Remove sway bar link from strut, see Fig 6.
  9. Support the lower control arm with a stand and then remove the struts lower retaining bolts, Fig 7.
  10. Remove the loosened upper stud nut inside the vehicle.
  11. Remove the lower strut from the spindle arm and remove strut from vehicle. Fig 8. Note: Do not allow spindle hub to fall back towards you as it may pull the CV joint out.
  12. Repeat on opposite side of vehicle.

  1. Remove the nuts and washers from the top of the strut and set aside.
  2. Place strut up into wheel well and align the upper studs with the existing holes. Push studs through the holes and place washers and nuts on the studs and tighten, see Fig 1.
  3. Place spindle arm into the lower struts mounting bracket and insert bolts and tighten, see Fig 2.
  4. Connect sway bar link to the new strut using the removed nut and tighten, see Fig 3.
  5. Install the brake line retaining plate to the bracket on the back of the strut using the removed bolt and tighten, see Fig 4.
  6. Install the ABS line retaining plate to the bracket on the strut using the removed bolt and tighten, see Fig 5.
  7. Make sure all bolts are tight.
  8. Install wheels and torque lugs to factory specs.
  9. Repeat steps for opposite side of vehicle.

Conversion Kit installation complete.
