Is Your Suspension Failing? Ready to Order
How do I know if my 1997-2001 Lexus ES300 Air Suspension is failing?Look for sagging or inflated sides on your 1997-2001 Lexus ES300. Sudden, noticeable uneven height differences on the sides of the vehicle are the most common signs of a failed or leaking air suspension. Any noticeable changes in height from the front to the back, or vice versa, are usually quite obvious. Also, the ES300’s overall ride height is indicative of a bad suspension- it should be meeting and consistently maintaining the appropriate ride height 24/7. A bad suspension might cause a warning light to illuminate on the vehicle’s instrument panel. Or maybe the air compressor has stopped working- this “wear out” of other components is a common symptom of air suspension total failure. If you notice any of these changes in your Lexus ES300, you need to get it fixed as soon as possible.

What kind of suspension does my 1997-2001 Lexus ES300 have?
The 1997-2001 Lexus ES300 is built with the following suspension components:
1997-2001 Lexus ES300 Air Struts (x4)- struts that contain an air bladder whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module; these have two functions. They connect the wheel of a vehicle to the driving surface in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. They also help maintain the vehicles correct ride height, especially whenever the amount of load put onto the vehicle changes.
1997-2001 Lexus ES300 Height Sensors (x2)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.
1997-2001 Lexus ES300 Compressor- This vehicle is equipped with one air suspension compressor. The compressor is responsible for pumping up the air springs and shocks. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor is forced to run continuously to try and keep the air springs inflated. After a couple of days of running non-stop, the compressor will burn itself out. Replacing the compressor is a timely and expensive project to undertake.
1997-2001 Lexus ES300 Dryer Assembly- This vehicle is equipped with a dryer assembly. The dryer assembly is responsible for getting moisture out of the air lines. Once the air suspension parts start to leak, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension components from the inside out. The dryer must be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to prevent further damage.
1997-2001 Lexus ES300 Suspension Control Module- This vehicle is equipped with a suspension control module. This module is the brain of the suspension system and it reads all of the signals that are being sent by the height sensors and determines if the vehicle needs to be raised or lowered.
1997-2001 Lexus ES300 O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.
