Why Choose Strutmasters Instead Of Those Other Guys
Simply put, the air to non-air suspension conversion kit saves you time, frustration, and a ton of money. Instead of relying on expensive assorted parts working properly and in sync, at all times, you can transition to a coil spring suspension and never worry about faulty air parts again. This conversion kit includes two front coilover load adjusting shocks for your 1997-2002 Ford Expedition 4WD. We designed the kits to be more affordable than a direct replacement at the dealership, but the parts are high quality and more reliable, too. We stand behind them with our Strutmasters limited lifetime warranty. DIYers love the kit because it is installed easily in about one hour per wheel and the suspension warning light turns off after about thirty minutes. Installation is easy using our instruction guide that comes complete with pictures and helpful support information. Watch our experts perform real installations on our exclusive YouTube channel. And if that hasn’t convinced you, call us and talk to one of our in-house technicians who are always happy to answer any questions you have about your bad suspension on your Ford Expedition.
How Do I know If My Expedition Air Suspension is failing?
There are distinctive signs of a failed or leaking air suspension system at the front of the 1997-2002 Ford Expedition. If you are aware of the symptoms, you can properly diagnose a suspension that is going bad before total failure sets in. A loss in dampening abilities is by far the most commonly seen sign of a bad suspension in this car. This would make the ride feel turbulent or bumpy and/or very bouncy if you are sitting in the front. If there is an illuminated suspension warning light or message on the instrument panel, this is a red flag indicating failure. The air compressor can wear out- check to see if it is working or running too often (it will be noisy and loud). If you have any indication that your Expedition is not meeting and maintaining its appropriate ride height, you will want it fixed immediately.

Suspension Components ListThe 1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) is built with the following front suspension components:
1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) Air Shocks (x2) - the air shocks are pumped up automatically to keep the vehicle level and to assist with the ride quality. These shocks contain a rubber bladder which is notorious for dry rotting, causing leaks in the shocks which inevitably leads to multiple failures in the air system. These are located in the front.
1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air bags in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.
1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) Torsion Bar- Adjustable horizontal bar on the front of the vehicle that holds the vehicle off the ground.
1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) Dryer- prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts.
1997-2002 Ford Expedition (4WD) Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle’s correct ride height.

The air ride suspension was removed and replaced on rear of vehicle before i bought it. They never converted the front. Both front shocks were busted. I was tired of riding bump stops. Local shops wanted 1400 dollars to convert my expedition to coil over. Upon further investigation i came across strutmaster.com. I ordered my brand name conversion kit and it arrived in a matter of days. I did the install myself. It took me 30 minutes to tear down , remove, and reinstall. 45 minutes total job time from driving, to completed and driving again. Saved my self over 1000 dollars and a week of wait time. If you can change a radiator hose this install is super simple. Just a few more tools. Im currently preparing to attack the rear end next. Awesome product. Will never go to a shop for suspension issues again. Thanks strutmasters.
tried myself to install shocks but could not find a spring compressor for that small of coils. had my mechanic install shocks, he said it took 2 mechanics to install the shocks.i called tech support and they could not tell me where to find a spring compressor
