What kind of suspension does my 1998-2004 Cadillac Seville have?

The 1998-2004 Cadillac Seville is built with the following front suspension components:

1998-2004 Cadillac Seville Electronic Struts (x2)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. The Cadillac Seville’s struts, while having coil-springs, use an electronic signal to stiffen or soften the dampening of the strut.

1998-2004 Cadillac Seville Height Sensors (x2)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.

2 questions. Will the car would sit level? Dustin @ SM said that the car would sit level and the “rear too high situation was not a problem with this model”. I asked about the ride and he stated that the ride would be very good. Fact. The car does NOT sit level. It sits abnormally high in the rear. Fact. The car now rides like a truck. Much too firm which is depressing given the availability of modern computer designed components and maddening given that I specifically asked about it in advance. I did not have unreasonable expectations going in to this. I knew the passive components would be a little step down from the OEM system but I did expect that the car would ride at least as well as other modern cars with passive systems. It does not. My passengers routinely make unsolicited comments about it. Dustin was more interested in making a sale than he was in providing truly accurate information about the product and I now regret not having researched more reviews.

“The front struts are slapped together and do not have the camber adjustment drilled out, so basically you have to drill the hole out prior to install.

Customer Service is great when you call to order, but afterwards good luck making contact with them,

The rear shocks are horrible, the car rides like a eighteen wheeler, and takes bumps like a SUV, I would highly not recommend any strutmasters products. I have been contacting them for over 2 weeks and have had no responses.”

We don’t actually have the struts installed yet, but your customer service was awesome. Jason was a pleasure to deal with and took care of everything for us, except paying for the struts…ha. I won’t know about the product itself until it gets installed, but do know that your customer service just can’t be beat.
