Why Choose Strutmasters Instead Of Those Other Guys
The original factory air suspension system on the 03-06 Ford Expedition is made up of a variety of complicated and expensive components that rely on electronics for the system to work properly. Normal wear and tear, age and exposure to the elements eventually take their toll on the air system, which has a 100% failure rate.
When one of these major components in the system fails, the others are right behind it -- leading to a series of expensive repairs. Strutmasters invented the fully-assembled suspension conversion kit in 1999 as a cost effective alternative to replacing expensive OE parts with multiple trips to the repair shop. This Pro Line edition of our conversion kit is made to be even more affordable for owners of older, high mileage vehicles on a limited budget. This FX24E kit includes two pre-assembled front coil over struts with progressive rate springs and two pre-assembled rear coil over struts with progressive rate springs. Recommended labor time is about an hour per wheel OR Do It Yourself with the aid of our detailed instructions and available tech support.
A suspension warning light elimination module is available at a special price (with the purchase of this kit) to Strutmasters customers by calling our sales team BEFORE you order. Take a minute to compare prices on our site: That of a dealer repair with Original Equipment; replacing the system item by item with aftermarket parts; or installing the Strutmasters Pro Line conversion kit and saving big, while eliminating the problem completely.
How Do I know If My Expedition Air Suspension is failing?
The most obvious sign of trouble with your air suspension system is a loss of three to five inches of vehicle ride height. This can happen in the rear, front or either side of your 2003-2006 Ford Expedition. Another indicator of trouble is an illuminated suspension warning light in the instrument cluster. Finally, if you hear your onboard air compressor running nonstop, know that a big repair bill is just around the corner. The number cause of failure is leaks in the air system brought on by age and normal wear and tear. The rubber portion of the air spring atop each vehicle strut develops tiny cracks and begins to seep air from the system. This causes the onboard air compressor to run endlessly in an effort to keep the system fully inflated. Eventually, the compressor gets overworked and shuts off, causing the sudden loss of ride height. The compressor may turn back on once it has cooled off, but it has permanent damage and can no longer make enough PSI to inflate the system properly. Driving the vehicle with a failed air suspension causes stress on other suspension components (struts, ball joints and even brakes) and may be dangerous at highway speeds. Because the factory air suspension system relies heavily on electronics to work, it has a 100% failure rate. All of the major components will eventually need a complete overhaul to continue to work properly. With an older, higher mileage vehicle, replacing all of the Original Equipment air system parts is almost cost prohibitive. A proper repair can cost more than the vehicle is worth! That is exactly why Strutmasters offers the Pro Line conversion kit for these vehicles as a way of solving the problem at an affordable cost.

Suspension Components List
The 2003-2006 Ford Expedition 4WD is built with the following suspension components:
2003-2006 Ford Expedition Air Struts (x4) - Metal tubes filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that dampens vibration and controls bouncing motions caused by travel on rough road surfaces. On this vehicle, the strut has a perch for a rubber air spring that fills with pressurized air to help support the weight of the vehicle. The rubber air spring takes the place of a traditional steel coil spring. Since all air springs and struts go bad at about the same rate, if one is failing, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time.
2003-2006 Ford Expedition Air Lines - Tubes that carry compressor air from an onboard compressor to the air struts.
2003-2006 Ford Expedition 4WD Compressor- This vehicle is equipped with one air suspension compressor, responsible for pumping up the air springs. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor is forced to run continuously to keep the air springs inflated. After a couple of days of running non-stop, the compressor will burn itself out. It may turn back on when given time to cool off, but it has been permanently damaged and will no longer be able to make enough to air inflate the system.
Replacing the compressor is a time-consuming and expensive project.
2003-2006 Ford Expedition 4WD Dryer Assembly- This vehicle is equipped with a dryer assembly. The dryer assembly is responsible for getting moisture out of the air lines. Once the air suspension parts start to leak, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension components from the inside out. The dryer must be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to prevent further damage.
2003-2006 Ford Expedition 4WD Suspension Control Module- This vehicle is equipped with a computer known as the suspension control module. This module is the brain of the suspension system and it reads all of the signals that are being sent by the height sensors and determines if the vehicle needs to be raised or lowered.
2003-2006 Ford Expedition Rubber O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.
