long-icon-questionWhy Choose Strutmasters?

Why choose the Conversion Kit over replacing the air suspension system on your 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX?

The air suspension system on the 04-09 Cadillac SRX is made up of complicated electrical components that must always function in sync. When the air suspension system goes bad, the Cadillac owner must choose between an expensive dealership direct replacement and aftermarket parts. Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit is the high-quality and affordable replacement solution that saves customers time, frustration, and money. The kit, made in the USA, includes two pre-assembled complete front struts with premium springs, two premium rear springs, and two premium rear shock absorbers. Customers appreciate that the kit is installed in about one hour per wheel, thanks to detailed instructions and installation videos online. Extra support is offered by our ASE certified technicians. Read the customer reviews to find out firsthand why the majority of Cadillac SRX owners with a failed air suspension system change over to non-air suspension with our kit.

long-icon-xIs Your Suspension Failing?

How do I know if my 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Air Suspension is failing?

If the 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX is unable to reach and maintain its proper ride height, it may have a failed or leaking air suspension system. Look for a sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the SRX. This is one of the first indicators that the suspension is going bad. Typically, either the front or rear end will sag while the opposite end remains inflated. This gives the illusion the SRX is “squatting down.” Any ride height imbalances can cause the air compressor to wear out. If it has stopped working or is running too often, this is already occurring. Lastly, advanced suspension failure will cause the suspension warning light on the dash to illuminate. At this point, a vehicle repair is necessary to safely keep the SRX on the road.

long-icon-gearVehicle Components

What kind of suspension does my 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX have?

The 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX is built with the following suspension components:

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Electronic Struts (x2)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. The Cadillac Deville’s struts, while having coil-springs, use an electronic signal to stiffen or soften the dampening of the strut.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Shock Absorbers (x2)- a metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle shock absorbers.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Coil Springs (x2)- Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Solenoids (x4)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Compressor- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Dryer Assembly- used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle’s correct ride height.

2004-2009 Cadillac SRX O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.
