How Do I know If My XJ8 Air Suspension is failing? You will know if your 2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 air suspension is leaking or going bad if you notice any of these tell-tale signs. The most common sign is a sudden noticeable uneven height difference between different sides of the XJ8. You may walk out to your car after work and see the rear end sagging, or the front end inflated. Maybe the body is leaning to the left or right side in an unusual manner. Some drivers note that the entire vehicle looks like it’s squatting down lower than usual. If you have a suspension total failure, your air compressor will begin to wear out. If it is no longer working, or running too much (it will be very noticeable), then this also points to a bad air suspension. Look for an illuminated suspension warning light or message in the instrument cluster. If your Jaguar XJ8 can not consistently reach and hold its appropriate ride height, you may be in need of repair or, worst case scenario, total replacement. The XJ8 might not be safe to take out on the road, as it may not handle even the smallest road bumps effectively. Read on to find out about our popular solution to this problem.

Suspension Components ListThe 2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 is built with the following suspension components:2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Electronic Struts (x2)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. The Cadillac Devilleâs struts, while having coil-springs, use an electronic signal to stiffen or soften the dampening of the strut.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Shock Absorbers (x2)- a metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle shock absorbers.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Coil Springs (x2)- Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Solenoids (x4)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Compressor- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Dryer Assembly- used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicleâs correct ride height.2004-2010 Jaguar XJ8 O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Hi, I’m Colin from Sarasota, FL. I did a lot of research on doing a conversion from air-struts to coil springs, I found the prices to be very competitive and after speaking to Donielle and having my questions answered, I felt very comfortable about buying the Kit. I am by no means a mechanic but the instructions that come with the kit are very precise and easy to follow. I was very happy at the look of the car once I had installed the kit. The stance just seemed right, Not to high or low. I was very impressed on how it drove, the ride was firm enough to hold the road yet soft enough so that every bump was not Jarring. The car felt very planted as you took a corner and there was virtually no roll that you get from other inferior coil springs. Overall I am delighted at the end result, starting with the great personal service I got over the phone and to the product it self. I would, with out a doubt use this company again and highly recommend them.
Called StrutMasters for information on a conversion kit for my 04 Jaguar XJ8 which is showing signs of air suspension problems. Talked to Jennifer about their product, she was very helpful and knowledgeable. I did not order at that time but will soon knowing this is a quality product and will perform up to my standard.
Darrell was super to work with. My air ride conversion kit was delivered fast and it was the correct kit.
Bought a coilover conversion kit for my 2004 Jaguar XJ8. Great shipping to my house in 2 days. The instructions that came with the shocks made the exchange pretty simple and included lots of pretty pictures 🙂 . Took the car out for a test drive…rides and handles great. VERY happy boy (68 year old boy). One tip: if your car is as old as mine, make sure that you have a full can of rust buster. It’ll make the job so much easier. Those bolts have been under my car for 12 years and they seem to be happy being just where they were. If you’re considering a coilover conversion, I don’t think you can go wrong with these. Highly recommended.
AFTER VIEWING SEVERAL WEB PAGES AND BLOGS ( ARNOTT, AMERICAN AIRSUSPENSION, BIELTSON( SP?) I CAME TO REALIZE THAT STRUTMASTERS SEEMED TO HAVE THE MOST FAVORABLE REVIEWS AND TESTIMONIES. I DECIDED TO VISIT THEIR WEB PAGE AFTER REVIEWING MORE FOOTAGE OF INSTALLS ON YOUTUBE. ONCE ON THE STRUTMASTERS.COM WEB I RECEIVED A CHAT MESSAGE FROM JENNIFER. NOT ONLY WAS THE INFORMATION ON THE PAGE HELPFUL BUT JENNIFER PROVIDED EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND SERVICE BY ANSWERING ALL MY QUESTIONS AN ASSURING ME WITH DETAILS ABOUT THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND THE LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE PRODUCT I WAS PURCHASING.
GREAT JOB JENNIFER! IT’S NICE WHEN YOU GET A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WHO TRULY ENJOYS WORKING WITH CUSTOMERS! BRAVO! TO JENNIFER @ 877-864-5637 – IN CASE YOU WANT TO GET THE SAME GREAT SERVICE I DID 🙂
“Started to develop an intermittent “Air Suspension Fault” on my 04 XJ8 and shortly after that found it sitting low in the right front corner in the mornings. After some research decided to go with Strutmasters so placed them on order. Showed up in about a week.
Took about 4 hours to install the toughest thing for us was getting behind the back seat. Other than that you can do this if you can change the oil on you car and have the tools and a decent jack and stands. Everything went in without a hitch and there are no errors on the computer it is happy.
Ride and handling to me are more sporty than before. It is a bit firmer without being too stiff but stays much flatter in the turns and bounce is non existent regardless of the road. Very satisfied with the drive of the car overall.
Money well spent if you car has life left and you don’t want to open the box on messing with the air suspension.”
“2006 jaguar xj8l , air pump went so rebuilt, front shock popped after I rebuilt pump shop wanted $1850.00 to replace both front shocks , went to strutmasters after checking the fourms. my wife is recovering from cancer and hard rides are not cgood for her , so I bought the conversion kit so I would not have to keep replacing air shocks . the kit is cheaper than the 2 shocks on front , my shop had them replaced in 4 hours and no suspension light , they said it was easy with strutmasters instructions. may car rides better than it ever did if you are considering a kit I say buy it you wont be sorry. Thank you for all your help will buy all cars shocks and struts from you folks from now on.”
“Last year my Jaguar started showing a faulty air system, the front end would drop down… only when the temp got to near freezing.
So after doing a fair bit of Googling, I found Strutmasters. The reviews all seemed universal in how Strutmasters equipment saved their car.
Well, now you can add one more to the chorus. My local shop whom I’ve done business with for years took the kit from Strutmasters and four hours later called me to say it was ready.
When I went to get it, she was standing much better!
I haven’t put too many miles on since, maybe about 70 or so. But, I can positively say that ride is back to at LEAST as good as it had been when the air system worked. I also have the impression that the car actually handles a bit better. I’m no racer, but she feels much more stable in corners!
I’m VERY happy with Strutmasters sales, shipping AND quality. All at a cost (with installation) that was about half the cost of dealership!”
I have a 2004 Jaguar xj8 and 1 of the air shocks went out, The mechanic recommended that I put on a conversion kit. I’m Glad I found these parts online. They cost Half what the mechanic was going to charge me and they are Quality Parts. My mechanic commented on them. Absolutely recommend
