Why Choose Strutmasters?
Why choose the Conversion Kit over replacing the air suspension system on your 2005-2009 Saab 9-7x?The air suspension system on the 05-09 Saab 9-7x is made up of assorted parts that must constantly function in sync. When one component breaks, the system stops working properly. Strutmasters’ unique air to non-air suspension conversion kit gets rid of this dependency for good. This kit, made in America, includes two Eibach coil springs for the 9-7x. Strutmasters designed the kit to be more affordable than dealer repair, without sacrificing quality. This is a direct replacement solution, so no modifications are needed before installation. Each kit comes with our Limited Lifetime Warranty. The kit is installed easily, in about one hour per wheel, thanks to the accompanying detailed instructions and installation videos that are available to view online. The suspension warning message generally turns off after about thirty minutes. Call or chat with our ASE certified technicians anytime; they are happy to answer any bad suspension questions and concerns. Between excellent customer service, high-quality parts, and the low price, it’s no wonder more and more customers choose the non-air suspension conversion kit when their Saab suspension fails.
Is Your Suspension Failing?
How do I know if my 2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Air Suspension is failing? If your 2005-2009 Saab 9-7x is not reaching and maintaining its proper ride height, a failed or leaking air suspension system may be at fault. Look for these common signs that the suspension system is going bad, to help diagnose the problem before total failure sets in. The most common sign is a sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the Saab. A sagging rear end is typical, as is a lean from one side to the other. If a suspension warning light is illuminated on the dashboard then you can be sure a repair or replacement is necessary. Listen to the air compressor for further proof. If it has stopped working or is running too often then a bad suspension may have caused it to wear out. If any of these symptoms are present they should be fixed promptly.
What kind of suspension does my 2005-2009 Saab 9-7x have?
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Air Springs (x2) - commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Shock Absorbers (x2) - has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. Some models dampening may be controlled by the suspension control module and can be very costly to replace.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Height Sensors (x2) - a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air bags in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Solenoids (x2) - usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement air springs and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Dryer- prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle’s correct ride height.
2005-2009 Saab 9-7x O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

This was not the first time I’ve had to do this kind of conversion to a vehicle that I’ve owned, but like the first time Strutmasters made it easy to do. Before I used the conversion kit my Buick Rainier looked like (to quote my dad)” it was haulin’ a load of moonshine”. Now it rides just like it did before the airbag went bad. Thanks again Strutmasters. You guys really came through.
