Why Choose Strutmasters Instead Of Those Other Guys

How Do I know If My MDX Air Suspension is failing?

The 2007 to 2013 Acura MDX all-wheel drive vehicles equipped with the Sport Package came with an active electronic suspension system from the factory. The "Active Damper System" uses electronic and magnetic devices inside the struts and shocks to change the internal valving of each unit to suit driving conditions. When new, the active electronic suspension delivers an exceptional ride quality. But eventually age, normal wear and tear and exposure to the elements cause the electronic devices and struts themselves to wear out. An illuminated suspension warning light in the dash is one sign of trouble. Another obvious sign is a harsh or rough ride due to worn out struts and/or electronic components that are no longer doing their job. Original Equipment replacement parts alone can cost upwards of $3000 when an overhaul of the system is needed. Additional expense can occur when the suspension control module, height sensors and other related electronics fail. Strutmasters designed a suspension conversion kit that eliminates the need for expensive electronic components and delivers a great ride quality at a fraction of the cost of OE parts and labor. The Strutmasters coil-over-struts just bolt right in place of the electronic struts in the front of the vehicle. The kit includes brand new passive rear shocks and new coil springs tuned to match the new set up. A suspension warning light module, included in the kit, is needed to turn off the related suspension light in the dash. The conversion kit can be installed in as little as an hour per wheel. With detailed instructions and available tech support, it is perfect for vehicle owners who want to fix it themselves.

Suspension Components List

The 2007-2013 Acura MDX All-Wheel Drive equipped with Sport Package is built with the following suspension components:

2007-2013 Acura MDX Electronic Struts (x2)- (models with ADS electronic suspension only). Metal tubes filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that controls bouncing motion and dampens vibration caused by travel on rough road surfaces. These struts are equipped with a special Active Dampening System, which uses complicated electronic and magnetic devices to manipulate the dampening rate of the strut hundreds of times per second. The units rely on feedback from sensors and a suspension control module to function. The strut itself contains a perch for a steel coil spring which supports the weight of the vehicle. The entire unit itself is known as an electronic strut. These are much more expensive and complicated compared to a traditional passive (non-electronic) unit used on most vehicles.

2007-2013 Acura MDX Electronic Rear Shocks (x2)- (models with ADS electronic suspension system). Small metal tubes, filled with a gas-charged hydraulic fluid that controls bouncing motion and dampens vibrations caused by rough road surfaces. These shocks are considered "active" because the dampening rate can be adjusted electronically hundreds of times a minute while the vehicle is being driven. These shocks are more expensive and more complicated than a traditional passive shock because of the electronic and magnetic devices inside.

2007-2013 Acura MDX Height Sensors (x4)- a linkage located near each wheel of the vehicle that constantly measures the height of the vehicle and reports this information back to the control module. The information is used to make adjustments in the internal valving of the struts and shocks to ensure a smooth ride on a variety of road surfaces. The ride height sensor is a moving part and they will eventually wear out.

2007-2013 Acura MDX Suspension Control Module - A computer that processes information provided by sensors located throughout the vehicle to make adjustments in the electronic portions of the suspension.

The experience was great. Starting with Darrell on the phone, very nice and helpful, also very knowledgeable about my needs. Very fast delivery. My mechanic had some problems trying to install the module. He call and talk to tech support and they were absolutely great according to him in helping him install the module. My Acura rides a lot better now.
Thanks to you all.

I could not be any happier. I saw the videos on YouTube, and called immediately. Unfortunately, I had to wait until they were in stock. Spoke to Will, got a quote and ordered. The parts were delivered around 4:30 in the afternoon a few days after ordering. I had everything done about 4 hours later. Next day went to have alignment done. No more knocking every time I hit a bump, no more skittish feel. Thank you StrutMasters. This is the first time I have left a review for anything, just shows how pleased I am.
