long-icon-xIs Your Suspension Failing? Ready to Order

How do I know if my 2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Air Suspension is failing?

If you suspect the air suspension system is going bad or leaking on your 2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, you will want to diagnose the problem before total failure is reached. Once an air suspension system has failed, other major components wear out in turn. If you think your Tahoe is having issues with reaching and maintaining its appropriate ride height, then a bad suspension is likely. The most noticeable sign is a sudden uneven height difference between the right and left sides of the Tahoe. Typically one end sags while the other is inflated, usually the rear and the front respectively. This gives the illusion the Tahoe is squatting down lower than usual. Even if there is only a slight lean from one side to the other, you want to get it fixed ASAP. Check on the air compressor to see if it is still working, or is running too often (will be very noisy and loud). It may need replacement. An illuminated suspension warning light or message on the instrument panel confirms the air suspension needs repair.

long-icon-questionWhy Choose Strutmasters?Ready to Order

Why choose the Conversion Kit over replacing the air suspension system on your 2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe?

The 2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe air suspension system is comprised of assorted parts that can be expensive to repair. It is also inconvenient- if one part does not function in sync, the entire system stops working properly. We knew there had to be a better way to repair the suspension. We created our air to non-air suspension conversion kit to be an affordable direct replacement alternative to repair by the dealer. The kit, for your Tahoe, includes two Eibach coil springs, two shocks for the rear, and two pre-assembled front strut assemblies with Eibach springs. We didn’t skimp on quality- Eibach is the best in the business. DIYers love that the kit is installed in one hour per wheel, saving you lots of time. Frustration is not a factor thanks to the detailed installation instructions that come with the kit and our installation videos. And lastly, the cost difference between choosing an air vs non-air suspension system is huge. On this page we look closely at the different replacement options and prices you could be charged when you have a failed air suspension system.

What kind of suspension does my 2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe have?

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Air/Magnetic Shocks (x2)- shocks that contain an air bladder or magnets whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Coil Springs (x4)- Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Torsion Bar- Adjustable horizontal bar on the front of the vehicle that holds the vehicle off the groundtorsion bar.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Shock Absorbers (x2)- a metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Solenoids (x4)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Compressor- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Dryer Assembly- used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle’s correct ride height.

2007-2013 Chevrolet Tahoe O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.
