  • For best results getting the suspension warning light off, we recommend converting all four wheels of the vehicle at the same time.

Replaced Components
The2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoeis built with the following suspension components: 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeElectronic Shocks (x2)- These struts are controlled electronically by the suspension control module. They respond to changing road surfaces and smooth out the ride while also maintaining the vehicle's proper ride height. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeAir Springs (x2)-Air springs use pneumatic pressure as opposed to mechanical coils to suspend the vehicle up off of its wheels and the road. They also help to cushion the overall ride. While they provide an excellent ride when they are new, they all wear out eventually and are most often the source of air leaks within the system. In order to repair the system properly they should all be replaced at the same time. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe Coil Springs (x2)- These coil springs may appear to be similar to the coil springs which are found on cars with a passive suspension but they built for different purposes. They are not rated properly for a passive suspension and therefore will need to be replaced if you decide to convert your Tahoe to a passive suspension system. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeStruts (x2)-These metal cylinders are filled with a gas-charged hydraulic fluid that aids them in reducing the wear and tear of contact from the road. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeTorsion Bar- This horizontal bar can be found at the front of the vehicle. It holds the front of the Yukon in place up off of its wheels and the ground. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeAir Lines-These tubes transfer pressurized air from the suspension's air compressor to the air springs, allowing the system to inflate. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeSolenoids (x4)-The solenoids in an air suspension system are in charge of regulating the air pressure in each air spring. As they age they will begin to leak, causing malfunctions in the system that put excess stress on the other components. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeCompressor Assembly-The air compressor is the powerhouse of the suspension system. It generates all the air needed to keep the air springs inflated. It is expensive and difficult to repair or replace and usually takes the extra burden when other elements of the suspension start to wear out. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeSuspension Control Module-This computer acts as the brain of the suspension system. It interprets the signals sent by the ride height sensor and determines how much each air spring needs to be raised or lowered. It also monitors the overall health of the system. 2000-2006 Chevrolet TahoeO-rings-Though small and inexpensive, the o-rings in the air suspension maintain the seals where the air lines connect, making them vital to the efficiency of the system. They also keep the air lines clean and free of debris.

Suspension Failure Signs
Hearing noises coming from your front suspension? You are not alone. The most common problem Tahoe owners experience is worn out sway bars and failed bushings. Most people don't realize that these suspension components should be inspected for wear every 60k miles and are often the causes of noises and degraded handling. You may also be noticing your 2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe is unable to maintain its proper ride height and maybe sags in the rear. This is an indication that your air suspension system is either leaking or your compressor is going bad. Either way, you will want to get your vehicle looked at and any bad components replaced before you have total suspension failure. Often the case with air suspensions is that once one component goes bad others follow leading to multiple, expensive trips to the dealer. A bad suspension creates dangerous driving conditions for you and your family so it should not be taken lightly.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Front Electronic Shocks ($318/Front Shocks) + Rear Air Shocks ($396/Rear Shocks) + Coil Spring ($86/Coil Spring) >+ Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($270) = TOTAL: Over $1,638 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
Simply put, our suspension conversion kit was built to save time, frustration, and money, without sacrificing ride quality. As The Suspension Experts, we understand the air and electronic suspension system on the Chevrolet Tahoe and how quickly it can become a major expense. That's why we invented the first fully assembled suspension conversion kit in 1999. If only one part of your air system doesn't function in sync, the entire suspension stops working properly. Our kit is an affordable direct replacement alternative, with no modifications needed to install. This kit includes two passive rear shocks, two rear Premium Steel Coil Springs and two passive front shocks. The kit is installed easily, in about one hour per wheel, thanks to the detailed installation instruction manual, installation videos, and our technical support team. The cost difference between choosing Original Equipment parts and our suspension conversion kits is why many of our customers make the switch. You have three options when your Tahoe has a failed suspension: repairing the active suspension system with Original Equipment parts at a GM dealer; installing aftermarket replacement parts on the Tahoe piece by piece; or getting rid of the headache for good by installing a Strutmasters suspension conversion kit.
