Replaced Components
The 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC is built with the following rear suspension components: 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Electronic Shocks (x2)- shocks whose dampening capabilities are controlled by the suspension control module. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Air Springs (x2)- commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Height Sensors (x2)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air springs, which carry pressurized air to the air bags. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Solenoids (x2)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized air to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height. 2007 Mercedes Benz R63 AMG 4MATIC O-rings- although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
If the 2007 Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG 4Matic is unable to maintain its proper ride height, a failed or leaking air suspension system may be the reason. Look for these common signs that indicate the suspension is going bad, before it's too late and total failure sets in. A sudden uneven height difference between two different sides of the vehicle is a red flag. This may look like one sagging end, one inflated end, a “squatting” appearance, or a shifting lean from side to side. If these imbalances are not fixed in a timely fashion, the air compressor will wear out. If the air compressor has already stopped working or is running too often, causing it to strain, then suspension failure will advance. At this point, a suspension warning light is illuminated on the dash. Many customers don't realize there is a suspension issue until they see this light. Don't be fooled- this is too long to wait for a repair. The longer the R36 AMG 4Matic owner delays the suspension's repair, the more expensive it will be.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Front Struts ($496/strut) + Front Air Spring ($350/spring) + Front Mounts ($43/mount) + Rear Electronic Shocks ($740/shock) + Rear Air/Hydraulic Spring ($430/spring) + Air Compressor Assembly ($540) = TOTAL: Over $4,500 (and that doesnt even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost
'+ Front Air Struts ($675/strut) + Rear Electronic Shocks ($110/shock) + Rear Air/Hydraulic Spring ($190/spring) + Air Compressor Assembly ($680) = TOTAL: Over $2,600 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit gets rid of the faulty electrical components of the R63 AMG 4Matic's original air suspension system. The kit, made in the USA, comes complete with two rear Premium Coil Springs, one suspension warning light-removal module, a pair of fully assembled front struts with Premium Coil Spings and all new components and all necessary hardware. The Strutmasters conversion system eliminates the dependency on individual air parts functioning in sync. Customers appreciate that it's installed easily with our detailed instructions, online installation videos and available tech support. Since we've been around for more than 20 years, we back this product with the Strutmasters 1-year warranty that has stood the test of time. The quality parts are more reliable than the original parts; we guarantee it. Lastly, the price of the kit is a fraction of the cost of dealership direct replacement and individual part replacement. When comparing the three costs, this kit saves a considerable amount of money.
