Replaced Components
The 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car is built with the following suspension components: 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Air Springs (x2) - commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Shock Absorbers (x4) - has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Coil Springs (x2) - the front of the town car already has coil springs, that's why we not only offer replacements for weakened coil springs in the front, but our conversion kit puts the same, sturdy design on the rear of the vehicle. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Height Sensors (x2) - a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air bags in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Solenoids (x2) - usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Dryer- prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height. 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
The 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car has served you well over the years, so make sure you look out for common signs of failed or leaking air suspension before it is too late. The most frequently seen sign is a sudden noticeable uneven height difference between different sides of the Town Car. Often, the rear end fails first causing it to sag while the front end remains inflated. Some drivers notice the car may lean from side to side. The Town Car might look like it’s squatting down too low to the ground. In the case of suspension total failure, the car might have “slammed” down to the ground- a bad sign, indeed! Maybe you’re on this page because you noticed a suspension warning light or message illuminated on the instrument panel. Perhaps you heard you air compressor. If it is very loud and noisy, it may be running too often. If it has stopped working completely, the bad suspension probably caused it to wear out. In any of these cases, you’re looking at a necessary air suspension repair or replacement.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Rear Air Springs ($630/air spring) + Compressor Assembly ($790) + Dryer ($230) + Front Coil Springs ($170/spring) = Over $2,500 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost
'+ Rear Air Springs ($90/air spring) + Compressor Assembly w/ Dryer ($210) + Front Coil Springs ($96/pair) = Over $450 (but that doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
There is a wide variety of assorted parts that make up the air suspension system on your 1990-1999 Lincoln Town Car. The problem with this system is that the parts break easily, and you can spend a fortune on frequent repair. We are the Suspension Experts, so we came up with a better solution. We created an air to non-air suspension conversion kit that eliminates the dependence on all the faulty air ride parts functioning properly and in sync in order for your Town Car to have a working suspension. This kit includes two replacement coil springs for the front end, and two high-quality American-made coil springs to delete the airbags in the rear end. Our conversions are lauded for their affordability and reliability- read reviews from our happy customers! The kit comes with our lifetime limited warranty. The kit is installed in about one hour per wheel and the suspension warning light turns off after about thirty minutes. If that's not enough, each kit is accompanied by easy to read installation instructions complete with pictures and helpful information. We have videos of our experts performing real installations on our exclusive YouTube channel.
