Replaced Components

The 2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 is built with the following suspension components:

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 Hydraulic Reservoirs (x4)- (models with hydraulic active suspension). If your model of Mercedes-Benz has this, then the steering pump also pushes hydraulic fluid to your

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 Hydraulic Struts (x4)- a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted onto a strut that uses pressurized hydraulic fluid as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These struts are controlled by the suspension control module, which is also responsible for redistributing hydraulic fluid to the struts as a means of weight distribution while cornering. All hydraulic springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time.

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 Height Sensors (x4)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 Hydraulic Lines- tubes that run from a a hydraulic pump to the hydraulic which carry pressurized hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic struts in order to adjust the height of the vehicle as well as redistribute weight while cornering.

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 Hydraulic Pump- if your Mercedes has hydraulic suspension instead of air suspension, then the hydraulic steering pump will also serve as the reservoir for the hydraulic fluid going into the struts.

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height.

2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs

Always check the ride height of your 2001-2006 Mercedes-Benz CL600. There are signs that will tell you if you have a failed or leaking hydraulic suspension. Is there a sudden noticeable uneven difference in height from side to side? This can look like a sagging or inflated side. Rear or front, left or right; drivers have seen uneven height differences in all. Sometimes the entire CL600 can look like it’s squatting low to the ground. Look at the instrument panel on your CL600- is there an illuminated suspension warning light or message? Is the air compressor working too hard (noisy), or no longer working at all? The ride height should always be consistent, and at the proper level for the Mercedes-Benz CL600. If not, you need to get it fixed before other components wear out.

OEM Replacement Cost

+ Hydraulic Strut Assemblies ($2,000/strut) )
+ Hydraulic Pump ($2,000)
+ Hydraulic Reservoir ($20)
= Over $10,000 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost

We already know that the 2001-2006 Mercedes Benz CL600 air suspension system is comprised of a wide assortment of parts. The Strutmasters conversion kit eliminates your dependence on these faulty and fragile components in order for a properly functioning suspension. The kit includes four completely pre-assembled coil-over struts that can be installed in about one hour each, with only a few bolts. Our suspension conversions are, simply put, more affordable and higher quality than original factory parts from the dealer. Parts come with our limited lifetime warranty. The instrument panel warning light will turn off in about thirty minutes post-installation. This is a direct replacement kit- no modifiers are needed. Pictorial instructions, detailed installation videos on YouTube, and expert in-house technicians are all available to support you and your repair.
