Replaced Components

The 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre is built with the following suspension components:

2000-2005 Buick LeSabre Electronic Struts (x4)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. The Buick Park Avenue's struts, while having coil-springs, use an electronic signal to stiffen or soften the dampening of the strut.

2000-2005 Buick LeSabre Height Sensors- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.

2000-2005 Buick LeSabre Compressor- This vehicle is equipped with one air suspension compressor. The compressor is responsible for pumping up the air springs and shocks. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor is forced to run continuously to try and keep the air springs inflated. After a couple of days of running non-stop, the compressor will burn itself out. Replacing the compressor is a timely and expensive project to undertake.

2000-2005 Buick LeSabre Dryer Assembly- This vehicle is equipped with a dryer assembly. The dryer assembly is responsible for getting moisture out of the air lines. Once the air suspension parts start to leak, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension components from the inside out. The dryer must be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to prevent further damage.

2000-2005 Buick LeSabre Suspension Control Module- This vehicle is equipped with a suspension control module. This module is the brain of the suspension system and it reads all of the signals that are being sent by the height sensors and determines if the vehicle needs to be raised or lowered.

2000-2005 Buick LeSabre O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs

If the 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre is unable to reach and maintain its proper ride height, the air suspension system may be going bad or leaking. Early detection of a failed suspension system is the key to avoiding total failure. Look for an uneven height difference between different sides of the LeSabre. Typically, owners notice a sagging rear or front end with an inflated opposite end. This gives the LeSabre the appearance of squatting down lower than usual. There might be a shifting lean from one side to the other. These height variations can wear out the air compressor if they're not fixed promptly. If the air compressor has already stopped working or is running too often, a suspension warning light will be visible on the dashboard. At this point, suspension failure is more advanced. An expensive repair or direct replacement will solve the issue.

OEM Replacement Cost

+ Strut ($710/strut)
+ Strut Mounts ($90/strut mount)
+ Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($720)
= TOTAL: Over $3,000 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost

+ Front Air Strut Assemblies ($720/pair)
+ Rear Air Strut Assemblies ($720/pair)
+ Compressor ($200)
+ Dryer Assembly ($40.00)
= TOTAL: Over $1,700 (and that still doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

The original air suspension system on the 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre is comprised of various parts that must always function in sync. This dependency on complicated electrical parts is expensive and inconvenient. Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit gets rid of this dependency for good. The kit, made in the USA, includes two coilover strut assemblies complete with necessary hardware and detailed instructions. Customers appreciate the high-quality parts, which are more reliable than the OE parts. Each kit comes with Strutmasters' 1-year warranty. The kit is installed in as little as one hour per wheel and the suspension warning light turns off after about thirty minutes. Our ASE certified technicians are available to answer your questions, and installation videos are available to view online. This direct replacement (no modifications needed!) is more affordable than the alternative repair solutions. Say goodbye to the air ride headache for good with this suspension conversion kit.
