Why Choose Strutmasters Instead Of Those Other Guys
When one component of the air suspension system on the 07-08 Mercedes GL320 CDI stops working, the rest of the system follows suit. Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit gets rid of this expensive dependence for good. The kit, made in America, comes complete with two rear shocks, two rear coil springs, two front coilover struts preloaded with Eibach springs, new mounts, and all necessary hardware. Detailed instructions and online installation videos help customers get the kit installed in about one hour per wheel. Our in-house ASE certified technicians are available to answer questions if further assistance is needed. The kit is vastly less expensive than dealership direct replacement or individual aftermarket part replacement. But it doesn't sacrifice quality- Strutmasters guarantees this with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.
How Do I know If My GL320 CDI 4MATIC Air Suspension is failing?
Look for the following signs to determine if the 2007-08 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI has a failed or leaking air suspension system. Early identification of a bad suspension is critical to avoiding total failure. Mainly, if the GL320 is unable to reach and maintain its proper ride height, a bad suspension is likely. Look for an obviously sagging end, an overly-inflated end, a “squatting” appearance, or a shifting lean from side to side. Any of these imbalances will wear out the air compressor. If the air compressor has already stopped working, a suspension warning light will illuminate on the dash. At this point, suspension failure is advanced. Any repair or replacement will be vastly more expensive. To avoid this worst-case scenario, have any suspension issue fixed as soon as it's noticed.

Suspension Components List
The 2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI is built with the following suspension components:
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Air Struts (models with Active Dampening Suspension) (x2)- shocks whose dampening capabilities are controlled by the suspension control module.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Coilover Struts (models without Active Dampening Suspension) (x2)- A type of shock absorber, it is a piece of metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. Coil springs fit around the top portion of the struts and hold the vehicle up, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Shock Absorbers (x2)- a metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Air Springs (x2)- commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Height Sensors (x4)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air springs, which carry pressurized air to the air bags.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Solenoids (models with Active Dampening Suspension) (x4)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized air to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
2007-2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicleâs correct ride height.

Real Customers, Real Reviews
Read reviews from people just like you looking for the perfect solution for their suspension needs.
After having a problem with the air ride suspension on our 2008 Mercedes GL450. We began doing research for replacement options (because all four “bags” had previously been replaced at a pretty high price, but the system was failing again.) It seemed that the best option would be to convert the vehicle to a spring/strut suspension system.
Research showed that I could get a cheaper foreign made spring/strut system but the reviews indicated that they were a lesser quality system than the heavier, American made system made by Strutmasters.
I contacted Strutmasters and was fortunate enough to be connected to Donielle. Donielle is excellent at her job as she was knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of her way to get answers to all of my questions. I found that Strutmasters products were 100% American made and manufactured right in Roxboro, NC. I learned that I could have the replacement system manufactured and shipped to a local mechanic to install but didn’t feel confident with most local mechanics I spoke with about their confidence level to do the work.
When I mentioned this concern to Donielle, she informed me that they also have a shop (Strutdaddys,) right in Roxboro that could do the install. I decided it would be worth the 5 hour drive to Roxboro. The crew at Strutdaddys led by Andrew and Matt got me in and out the same day and the car rides like new.
I hope the management at Strutmasters appreciates how great an employee they have in Donielle. I highly recommend Strutmasters!
I researched my options thoroughly and am thrilled with my decision to go with the complete suspension conversion kit – removing the airmatic system. The Strutmasters employees on the phone were extremely helpful. Now that the kit is installed, my GL450 rides better than ever and as my mechanic says…”I will never have to deal with suspension problems again.” My only regret is that replaced one front airstrut about 6 months before learning about Strutmasters – that repair alone cost me about 75% of what I incurred in total for the complete suspension conversion (parts and labor). Very happy with my results using Strutmasters.
Thanks Donielle, best attention and fast response!
