Why Choose Strutmasters?
Why choose the Conversion Kit over replacing the air suspension system on your 2000-2011 Avalanche 2500?The assorted parts that make up the air suspension system on the Avalanche 2500 must always function in sync. When one part goes, the system is defunct. Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit gets rid of this dependency for good. The kit, made in America, includes two rear KYB Monomax Monotube Shocks and two front KYB Monomax Monotube Shocks. Customers appreciate that the kit is installed in as little as one hour per wheel. Designed to save time and frustration, each kit comes with detailed instructions and installation videos online. Strutmasters' own ASE certified technicians are available to answer questions if extra help is needed. Even though the customer service is top-notch, the low price of the kit is what convinces most of our customers to make the switch. Compared to direct replacement at the Chevrolet dealership and individually replacing aftermarket air parts, Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit is the smartest choice.
Is Your Suspension Failing?
How do I know if my 2000-2011 Avalanche 2500 Air Suspension is failing? If the 00-11 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 is unable to meet and maintain its proper ride height, it may have a failed or leaking air suspension system. Look for these common signs that the suspension system is going bad before total failure sets in. The most common sign is a sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the Avalanche. A sagging rear or front end is typical, with an inflated opposite end. Some drivers notice a “squatting down” appearance. There may be a slight lean from one side to the other. The Avalanche owner should get these imbalances fixed, otherwise, the air compressor will wear out. Check the air compressor- if it has stopped working or is running too often then suspension failure is advanced. At this point, the suspension warning light may illuminate on the dashboard. An expensive direct replacement or repair may be necessary.
What kind of suspension does my 2000-2011 Avalanche 2500 have?
The 2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 is built with the following suspension components:
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Air/Electronic/Magnetic Shocks (x2)- shocks that contain an air bladder or magnets whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module.
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Coil Springs (x4)- Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Shock Absorbers (x2)- a metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. Shock Absorber.
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Height Sensors (x2)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche Compressor- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Dryer Assembly- used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.
2000-2011 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle’s correct ride height.
