Replaced Components

The 2005-2013 Range Rover Sport (L320) is built with the following suspension components:

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport Air Struts (x4)- Struts that contain a gas-charged hydraulic-filled cylinder that dampens vibration and road imperfections. The strut is a perch for a rubber air bladder (also called an air spring or air bag), which fills with air and supports the weight of the vehicle. Inflation of the air springs is managed by a suspension control module. The rubber portion of the strut is the number one cause of all air suspension leaks.

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport Height Sensors (x4) - A linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, it will eventually wear out.

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport Air Lines - Tubes that carry pressurized air from an onboard air compressor to the rubber air spring portion of the struts. The air springs inflate and deflate to adjust the height of the vehicle.

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport Compressor - Creates and sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor (also called an air pump) starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement air struts and taking the time to install them, only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced, can be very frustrating and expensive.

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport Dryer Assembly - used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport Suspension Control Module - a computer that is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height.

2005-2013 Range Rover Sport O-rings - Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs

There are common signs that can help you diagnose when the air suspension system on your 2005-2013 Range Rover Sport (L320) is going bad or leaking. You want to get this fixed before total failure sets in. A noticeable sign of a bad suspension is a sudden loss of three to five inches of ride height. There may be a height difference between different sides of the Range Rover Sport or the rear or front end may sag while the opposite end is inflated. If left unfixed, other suspension components will wear out at a more rapid pace. Take the air compressor, for example. It may have stopped working or may run too often (will be very loud and noisy). One obvious red flag is an illuminated suspension warning light on the instrument panel. If any of these symptoms present themselves, you need to choose from certain repair options - aftermarket, dealer, direct replacement - but make sure to do thorough research. Not all options are equal.
