Replaced Components
The 1986-1999 Buick LeSabre is built with the following rear suspension components:
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Air Struts (x2) - struts that contain an air bladder whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module; they serve two purposes. These connect the wheel of a vehicle to the driving surface in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. They also help maintain the vehicles correct ride height, especially whenever the amount of load put onto the vehicle changes.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Coil Springs (x2) - what we love! Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Height Sensors (x2) - a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Air Lines - tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air struts in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Compressor Assembly - creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Dryer - prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre Suspension Control Module - a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height.
1986-1999 Buick LeSabre O-rings - Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs

The most common sign of a failed or leaking air suspension system in the 1986-1999 Buick LeSabre is a sudden height difference between different sides of the vehicle. Early detection of a bad suspension system is critical to avoiding total failure, so look for any unusual sagging in the rear end. There may also be a shifting lean from side to side. These height imbalances, if not fixed promptly, will wear out the air compressor over time. If the air compressor stops working or runs too often then suspension failure will advance further. A suspension warning light will illuminate on the instrument panel.

OEM/Aftermarket Replacement Cost
SOME PARTS UNAVAILABLE!

The assorted parts that make up the air suspension system on the 1986-1999 Buick LeSabre must always work together. The entire system is defunct if one component is out of sync. Strutmasters' air to non-air suspension conversion kit eliminates this reliance for good. Made in the USA, the kit comes complete with two custom-rated coil springs and two hydraulic fluid gas-charged struts for the rear of the LeSabre. The kit can be installed in one hour per wheel, no modifications are needed. Easy to follow instructions and online installation videos help guide a smooth repair. The quality parts are backed by Strutmasters' 1-year warranty, providing customers with peace of mind. Lastly, the cost of the kit is a fraction of the prices of dealership direct replacement and individual part replacement. Top-notch customer service, excellent quality, and competitive pricing make this coilover suspension conversion kit the smartest choice.
