Replaced Components
The 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial is built with the following suspension components: 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Air/Electronic/Magnetic Shock Absorbers (x2)- shocks that contain an air bladder or magnets whose dampening capabilities are controlled by the suspension control module. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Air Struts (x2)- struts that contain an air bladder whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module; these have two functions. They connect the wheel of a vehicle to the driving surface in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. They also help maintain the vehicles correct ride height, especially whenever the amount of load put onto the vehicle changes. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Air Springs (x2)- commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Height Sensors (x2)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Compressor- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Dryer Assembly- used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle’s correct ride height. 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
There are some tell-tale signs that will indicate a leaking or failed air suspension on your 1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial. You should be aware of what they are so you can properly identify when your suspension is going bad. The most common symptom is a sudden noticeable uneven height difference between different parts of the Imperial. A sagging or inflated rear or front end is commonly seen. The Imperial might look like it’s leaning from the left or right side. Maybe the entire body seems to be squatting down lower than usual. If you have suspension total failure, your Imperial will not be able to reach or maintain the proper ride height. This is a problem because it renders the Imperial unsafe to drive. You will need to get it fixed as soon as possible. A couple other signs will tell you how bad the situation is. Look for an illuminated suspension warning light or message on the instrument cluster. Check the air compressor to see if it is working at all, or running to0 often (it would be very noisy in this case). You don’t want to ride on a bad suspension for too long or else all major vehicle components will wear out, too.
Our customers like to tell us the main reason they make the switch from the faulty Chrysler Imperial air suspension to one of the non-air suspension conversion kits is the low price. But we also use very high-quality products. Each kit includes two premium Eibach springs, two rear shocks, and two mounts. Strutmasters conversion kits are the ONLY kits that include renowned Eibach springs. The kit is installed in as little as one hour per wheel, and is created for DIYers! The kit is a direct replacement for your failed air suspension- no modifications are needed to convert to this simpler suspension. Gone are the days when you need to rely on all these malfunctioning electrical parts to have a working suspension system. This kit saves you a ton of money, compared to direct replacement of air suspension at the dealership, and precious time that can be better spent enjoying your like-new ride.
