Car was un drivable to my customer he had given up hope! He found me and I suggested replacing the rear air bags with coil springs. This conversion kit is excellent quality. The kit was installed on my 2004 Lexus GX 470 and didn't really know what to expect. This turned out to be a great decision. My Lexus now has a bit stiffer, sportier ride and handles so much better. Best of all, no more worries about air springs blowing out and expensive replacements.

These worked great. They ride fantastic and save from the constant cost of repairing 20 year old air shocks.
There are a few things in the instructions that should be made a little clearer for the user. Also some things that I learned doing this.
1) removing the old struts. If rusted on, just cut the old head off with a carbide sawzall blade. Saved an hour of time trying to remove a rusted 20 year old nut that you are throwing away.
2) With the new springs they have, you do not need a spring tensioner. They just slip right in.
3) The puck they supply for the top of the spring goes in with the bolt going up into the upper housing through the puck, then through the opening in the frame and then through the washer, lock washer and nut. You cannot put the bolt down through the frame, there isn't enough room on top for the bolt to come down through it.
Another thing I did was glue the lock washer to the washer, then glue the washer above the frame in place, then insert the bolt through the puck and through the glues washers. This kept them from sliding and falling back into the frame of the car. Held the nut with a magnet until the threads caught, then used a metric 19 to tighten it up top and bottom.
4) To re-install the new struts, compress them at least half way by hand. Insert them into the bottom shaft. Then let it spring back up and into the hole on top. Otherwise, if you put the top on first, you have to fight the driveshaft to find the correct angle to push it onto the shaft at the bottom. Slide it on. tighten the bolt 3/4 of the way, insert the top, tighten it all the way, then tighten the bottom.
5) There are three fuses that can be removed that control the air shocks. They took two minutes to remove, but saved cutting the wire the instructions tell you to do. One inside the car, a 20 amp. Two under the hood. A 50 amp and a 10 amp.
The entire job should take less than an hour.

Parts are good and work well the struts however didn't come with straps compressing them like they're shown in the photos. Still installed just fine but it was just a little inconvenient to have no straps on them. Overall great product though.

The kit was received soon after order was placed. Instructions were easy to follow and it included what is required to eliminate dash lights. Installing the upper pucks was a little difficult. My 2003 has frame rails directly over bolt hole requiring jamb nuts to attach pucks. Very pleased with the ride. Springs haven't settled yet so my vehicle rear height is at 37" which was the height at high setting. Not worth spending money on new compressor, air bags and height sensors. Very happy!!!!

This is the third one of these I’ve done! Brother-in-law customized his Lexus 470 for off road & replaced the air bags with Strutmaster springs & shocks. Then he helped me with first our ‘07 470 & then our ‘09 as the air bag systems began to have leaks. In all 3, the Strutmaster replacement kit installed like a dream & the ride couldn’t be better! Good product offering...I have to think there's a growing demand for this replacement kit from GX470 owners (beats the heck out of the almost $3K repair quote from the local Toyota dealerhip to repair the electronic / air bag rear suspension on my wife's 2004 GX470 w/168K miles). Local tire & auto gargage ASE mechanic (non-Lexus trained) easily installed the kit for just his labor charge. The car rides fine now...maybe just a little 'stiff' (and that's to nbe expected in comparison to the factory Lexus system vs this option) but still a huge improvment from what I she had been experiencing the past two months.

At 120,000 miles, the conversion to Strutmasters coils from the Lexus air strut system was a no-brainer. The ride is virtually identical. The cost was ~1/3 the price of replacement OEM air struts. For the 8 years we've owned our 2005 GX470, we've never used the shock switch (comfort/sport) so losing the ability to adjust back & forth was not a concern. Our local mechanic had no trouble following the enclosed instructions and was impressed with the Strutmasters' product.

I called and asked for an electronic copy by email, which I then had to copy and paste the instructions into a MS word document to view/read all the installation instructions. Installation was fairly easy with the proper tools and help (2 hours). We found that releasing the rear sway bar brackets made it easier to install the coils. Very happy with the ride and cost savings.

Once installed the ride seemed to mimic the OEM ride, the ride height appears to be right on, saved $1000 dollars to a total reinstall of the OEM Air ride parts (one shock alone is $600), I called in and the support was good. I purchased this kit to switch the air suspension to coil spring. It fits perfect with no modification needed. The install sheets had a box that blocks the top portion of the instruction. Plus the instruction is a copy and its so dark that it's pretty useless. The instruction was too vague on how to disconnect the air lines. There are additional small clips you have to push outward away from the air lines before you can pull the air lines out. Thnx to my mechanically incline self, I was able to figure out out myself. The only thing missing is instruction on how to deactivate the air pump and to deactivate the now flashing dash light. I'll give 5 stars for good product, 1 star for instructions, avg 3 stars.

your kit lived up to your discriptions and i am happy with the result. as a canadian i am not a fan of ups. they are expensive and charge a brokerage fee which a shipper like usps does not. they also just put it in canada post(our answer to usps) after it arrived in canada so there isnt a speed of delivery gain. i hope you will, in the future consider allowing choice of shipping options to canada. all in all im happy. mal jacobson

I went online to see what parts i needed to fix the air suspension on my 2004 Lexus GX470 and when i saw this conversion kit and read some of the reviews about it, i figured it would be the perfect solution, I'm glad i made this choice since it solved all my problems and saved me a ton of money compared to the cost of the original Lexus parts, i would of needed, also the manager at the auto repair shop i took my car to, committed on what a nice kit this was since he also owned a GX470 of his own and this the first time he had seen this kit , also the lady who answered the phone Donielle, not only was she a sweetheart on the telephone but very knowledgeable about my problem and their products they sell.
