Replaced Components
The 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG is built with the following suspension components: 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Air Springs (x4)- (models with air suspension only). Commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Struts (x2)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.; the air spring assembled on top of the strut is commonly referred to as an air strut. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Air Shocks (x2)– (models w/ AIRMATIC Dual-Control only). The air shocks are pumped up automatically to assist with the ride quality. These shocks contain a rubber bladder which is notorious for dry rotting, causing leaks in the shocks which inevitably leads to multiple failures in the air system. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Passive Hydraulic Shock Absorbers (x2)- (models w/o AIRMATIC Dual-Control only). A metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Coil Springs (x4)- (models w/o AIRMATIC). What we love! Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Height Sensors (x4)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Air Lines- (models with air suspension only). Tubes that run from a compressor to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Compressor Assembly- (models with air suspension only). Creates/sends pressurized air to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height. 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG O-rings- although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
You may be wondering if your Mercedes Benz CLS55 air suspension system is leaking or going bad. There are clear signs you can look for to help you diagnose a failed suspension. You will want to get it fixed ASAP before total failure sets in. The most commonly sign is a sudden noticeable uneven height difference between different sides of the CLS55. There may be sagging in the rear or front end. Some drivers notice the CLS55 looks like it‚Äö's squatting down lower than usual. There might be a slight lean from one side to the other. If you notice any issues with the vehicle reaching and maintaining its proper ride height, a bad suspension may be to blame. Check the interior instrument panel for an illuminated suspension warning light. Also, listen to the air compressor. A bad suspension can cause it to wear out. If it is no longer working, or running too often (will be loud and noisy), then the air suspension system might be the culprit.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Front Air Struts ($1,240/strut) ) + Rear Electronic Air Shocks ($580/shock) + Rear Air Spring ($1,190/spring) + Air Compressor Assembly ($380) = Over $6,400 (and that doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost
'+ Front Air Struts ($840/strut) ) + Rear Electronic Air Shocks ($480/shock) + Rear Air Spring ($310/spring) + Air Compressor Assembly ($390) = Over $3,600 (and that doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
We are hailed as The Suspension Experts because we know every detail about the wide variety of parts that make up the air suspension system on your Mercedes Benz CLS55. We created a conversion kit that eliminates the need for each and every part to function properly and in sync. The kit is more affordable than direct replacement at the dealership and is high quality. The parts include one custom-designed suspension light-fix module, two new fully assembled front struts using Premium Steel Coil Springs;  and a pair of new Premium Steel Coil Springs and two passive hydraulic fluid and gas shocks for the rear end of the CLS55. Do It Yourself customers love the kit because it is easily installed as a direct replacement for the factory components.  We designed the kit to save you time, frustration, and a lot of money. The cost difference between choosing an air vs non-air suspension system is huge. On this page, we outline three different costs: That of repairing your air suspension system at the Mercedes-Benz dealer, that of installing aftermarket air suspension parts on your CLS55 individually, and that of getting rid of the faulty air ride headache forever and installing a brand new Strutmasters coil-over suspension conversion kit today. Your wallet will thank you for choosing that last option.
