Replaced Components
The 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII is built with the following suspension components:

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Air Springs (x4) - commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Struts (x2)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.; the air spring assembled on top of the strut is commonly referred to as an air strut.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Shock Absorbers (x2) - has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Height Sensors (x4) - a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air bags in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Solenoids (x4) - usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Dryer- prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs

Early detection of a bad suspension is the key to avoiding total failure. Look for these signs of a leaking air suspension system: uneven ride height, sagging, an inflated side, leaning, failed air compressor, and illuminated suspension warning light. If your vehicle has any of these symptoms, you may need your suspension fixed. If the 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII has an improper ride height then a bad suspension is likely to blame.

Customer photo review of 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

These were not easy to install. The instructions could have been better. Did not know you either take out the back seat or take the carpet out of the sides of the trunk and get inside to undo the top of the rear shocks. Took me about ten to twelve hours to complete. Have not got a front end alignment yet, took for a short drive and like the feel so far.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

It was a great fit and parts seem like good quality. The only problem was the original lower rear strut bolt would not fit through the new strut bushing. The new strut bushing was entirely too small. This required me to find a new bolt and make my own bushing to reside in the lower control arm. Other than that everything else fit great. Rides extremely well.

Customer photo review of 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

My kit was delivered to my door within 48 hours from ordering online. I considered installing myself, but I no longer perform my own maintenance (as a seasoned citizen). The local Ford dealer installed it in 4 hours as part of a mechanical restoration of the suspension. The new ride is exactly that.......LIKE NEW! Before, I worried about going any distance on the less-than-reliable air suspension system. I love the new feel and the car has a great posture and height. Very pleased!

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

I purchased my struts and springs via phone. The person I spoke with was very helpful. I do custom auto fabrication as a hobby and also work part time for a local auto repair and transmission center. We now install Strutmasters products often. I also told a friend of mine at the local Lincoln Mercury dealer about you. He also works part time at O’Reilly Auto Parts. They now sell your products also. Don’t know if I had anything to do with that or not but at that time they could not get me the suspension parts to repair my car. I have seen and experienced other knock off products and none compare to looks and performance as Strutmasters do! Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion. Rich Holst, Davenport, Iowa….

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

I would like to express my complete satisfaction with your product. I recently purchased a 4-wheel shock replacement kit for my “Sinkin’ Lincoln.” Vito provided the most professional, courteous service that I have received in a long time. He was extremely knowledgeable and concerned about the outcome of my purchase, and even assisted my local mechanic in installing the parts correctly. I hope you will find a way to acknowledge his dedication and efforts in earning my customer loyalty. In my opinion, he deserves some sort of recognition for his admirable work. Thank you very much!

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

Your rep Chip was great, he was knowledgeable. He answered all my questions that I had at the time. I did not order immediately from but waited for a day before ordering. He seemed to remember me which is always nice. Since I placed the order everything Chip had explained happened the way it was supposed too. UPS even delivered the shipment on the scheduled day. This amazed me as I live in BC Canada which is on the West Coast above Seattle. The fact that order cleared customs and was delivered on time was great. We normally don’t get that kind service. Everything was great and if the product is half as good as the service then it will be perfect. So far thank you for everything. The follow up to my order by Chip and yourself is great and not enough business take to time to care this much about their customers. I really do appreciate this would highly recommend Strutmasters. Part of the reason I called your company is because of your involvement and sponsorship of a car in Nascar. I am big fan on Nascar and I regularly attend 2 – 3 races per year. So when I am looking to buy something, I always try to support companies that support Nascar. I think that it is important that you know this. Thanks again Bev Giem

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

The Mark VIII is really an extra car that sits in the garage most of the time. So I have looking into this more than once over the past 10 months. I was impressed with your product, warranty and most importantly the sales / customer service people that I spoke with every time I picked up the phone. I have run my own company since 1984. I want you to know that I do appreciate the extra effort you have shown here. Just proves that I made the right decision. The new spring kit for my Lincoln Mark VIII has worked out wonderfully. The ride and control are terrific. The ride height is stock, possible a tiny bit more as I find neither the tail pipes nor the front air dam scraping on my driveway coming or going. (I have a particularly steep driveway). Very glad not to hear the compressor any more! Very happy with your product and would highly recommend it.

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

The suspension system had started to leak the airbag system. I replaced it with your system which was reasonably priced, and actually made it so I could get my car back on the road, which was what I was attempting to do. It was a relatively easy install, your instructions were good. I like the hand drawn diagrams, I thought they were a lot better than an lousy picture, they were accurate. I talked to your tech line a few times and they were very helpful, and everybody involved with this purchase I thought was easy and friendly and concerned. I appreciate that. Overall I would say it is a good solution for my needs and I am happy with the product thank you

1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (8) 4-Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit With Shocks (FG14F)

When I opened the boxes I have to say I was impressed by the powder coated springs. Checked everything out and started to install. Well I just have to say, damn what a good fit. Went smooth as butter and the ride is premo!!!! Excellent ride height and good feel on the road. Air ride computer checks ok after wires cut. Just had to tell you, also that I was very apprehensive on putting on aftermarket suspension. Mostly due to fit problems that I thought would occur. So to say that I am happy. Well I have told my friends that own repair shops about your product, and would do this again in a second. P.S. Your service on the phone was good and put me at ease. Especially when a lot, and I mean a lot of businesses promise a good product and fall short. This is from someone who has been to the SEMA show 14 times.
