- Fits All 1995-2001 Ford Explorers With Air Suspension
Replaced Components
The 1995-2001 Ford Explorer is built with the following suspension components: 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Air/Electronic Shocks (x4) – the air shocks are pumped up automatically to keep the vehicle level and to assist with the ride quality. These shocks contain a rubber bladder which is notorious for dry rotting, causing leaks in the shocks which inevitably leads to multiple failures in the air system. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Shock Absorbers (x4) - has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Leaf Spring Packs (x2) - elongated steel beams that control the height and bear the weight of the rear of the vehicle. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Torsion Bar- Adjustable horizontal bar on the front of the vehicle that holds the vehicle off the ground. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Height Sensors (x2) - a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air which carry pressurized air to the air bags in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Dryer- prevents moisture build-up inside of air suspension parts. 1995-2001 Ford Explorer Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height.

Proper diagnosis of a failed or leaking air suspension system is critical to avoid suspension total failure in the 1995-2001 Ford Explorer 4WD. There are common signs to look for that will help to identify when the air suspension system is going bad. The most noticeable is a sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the Explorer. If the driver or passenger notices a turbulent ride or a diminished ride quality, then a bad suspension is likely. If the Explorer is generally not meeting and maintaining its proper ride height, a suspension repair may be needed. Don't buy this. Go to your nearest auto part store and just purchase replacement struts that come on the version of your car that doesn't have the airbag suspension. I bought this because it showed some wire attached to it that I thought was going to keep the light in the dash from coming on but no. Nothing fancy about this at all. Probably going to replace with Bilstein in the rear.

My names is James from Parkersburg, West Virginia, I drive an Explorer with an air ride system, 1998. Had several problems with air ride, changed over to strut system offered by Strutmasters. Very happy and pleased with how it rides now. Don’t have to put up with indicator light coming on all the time and the ride is much improved. I would recommend it to anyone who has that problem to make the conversion. The friend of mine who did the conversion for me it took about 2 hours of work instead of 4 so we were happy with the whole process. I thank you and look forward to doing business with you again.

Kent helped me place the order and I was told that the kit came with installation instructions. The ordered showed up as scheduled and all I found in the boxes were 3 pages consisting of an introduction sheet and two schismatic pages. The first page referred to reading the "quick start guide" before beginning installation. I did not find anything of the sort. I called Kent and he transferred me over to 'tech support'. The tech guy told me that was their standard packaging information. So from that conversation I figured I was on my own and their '7 day a week tech support' was just a bunch of marketing Bull Shit. Once I started the job I was committed to 'get-ur-done' I did accomplish the job and went to the (School of Hard knocks) for the hands on learning experience. Bottom line, if your expecting help from Strut-master either in written form or call support, don't hold your breath cause your on your own.
