Replaced Components
The 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) is built with the following suspension components: 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Electronic Shocks (x2)- shocks abosrbers whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module in order to ensure proper wheel-to-ground contact. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Air Springs (x4)- (models with air suspension only) commonly referred to as air bags, a plastic and rubber bag that is fitted on top of the strut that uses pressurized air as a cushion instead of a metal coil spring to hold a vehicle off of the ground and off of its wheels. These are the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air springs all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time.. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Struts (x2)- a type of shock absorber; has metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.; the air spring assembled on top of the strut is commonly referred to as an air strut. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Height Sensors (x4)- a linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Solenoids (x4)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Compressor Assembly- creates/sends pressurized air to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicles correct ride height. 2004-2005 Mercedes Benz E320 (RWD Wagon) O-rings- although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
Look for these commonly seen signs of a bad or leaking air suspension system on your 2004-2005 Mercedes-Benz E320. You will want to diagnose the failed suspension early before total failure sets in and the car is rendered immobile. The most noticeable is a suddenly uneven height difference between different sides of the E320. The front end or rear end might be sagging, while the opposite end might remain inflated. This can make the E320 look like it's squatting down too low to the ground. There might be leaning from one side to another. If the E320 looks like it is not reaching and maintaining its appropriate ride height, you may need repair or replacement. Look for an illuminated suspension warning light or message on the instrument panel to confirm a bad suspension. Listen to the air compressor- if it is loud and noisy, it may be running too often. If it has stopped working, a failed suspension could have caused it to wear out. You’ll want any of these symptoms fixed immediately before it's too late.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Front Air Strut Assemblies ($1,240/strut) ) + Rear Electronic Shocks ($180/shock) + Rear Air Spring ($380/spring) + Air Compressor Assembly ($740) = Over $4,300 (and that doesnt even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost
SOME PARTS UNAVAILABLE!
The wide array of assorted parts that make up the air suspension system on the E320 can be a hassle to replace and repair. They are expensive and are known to go bad after a certain period of time. We knew there had to be an affordable and high-quality alternative to constantly bringing it to the dealership for repair. Our air to non-air suspension conversion kit includes two new pre-assembled front struts, two new premium steel coil springs with mounts, and two passive hydraulic fluid and gas shocks for the rear end. Our loyal DIYers love the kit because they can get it installed in about one hour per wheel, with the guidance of the pictorial instruction manual. It is saving you time, frustration, and a lot of money. Taking a closer look at the cost difference between choosing an air vs non-air suspension system will shed light on why so many consumers decide to make the switch with our kit. On this page, we compare three very different costs: the price for repairing the E320 air suspension system at the Mercedes-Benz dealer, the price for installing aftermarket air suspension parts on your E320 piece-by-piece, and that of getting rid of the faulty air ride forever and installing a Strutmasters coil-over suspension conversion kit today. Our satisfied customer reviews will offer first-hand feedback- check them out.
