The 2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 is built with the following suspension components:

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 Air Struts (x2) - A type of shock absorber, filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to dampen vibration and reduce the bounciness. Mounted on each of the struts are rubber air springs that inflate to support the weight of the vehicle. The rubber air springs take the place of steel coil springs that most vehicle have.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 Air Lines - Tubes that carry pressurized air from a compressor to the rubber air spring portion of each strut to adjust the height of the vehicle.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 Solenoids (x4) - Usually L-shaped, these plastic components work along with the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 Compressor - Creates and sends pressurized air to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 Dryer Assembly - Used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 Suspension Control Module - A computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 O-rings - Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

It was a relatively simple installation, once the existing bolts were free. The only issue I had, mentioned by others is that I had to take about 1/4" off the bolts for the front shocks. The ride was a little rough for the first 5 miles or so, but has been excellent since. Firm and comfortable. Best part is no longer having to diagnose and locate air suspension problems. The included unit did bypass the suspension alarm, so all is good. I would use this product again.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 4 Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit with Light Fix Module (JA14FM)

This is the second kit that we've installed on customer's vehicles. The first was a 1993 Lincoln and the second was a 2001 Jaguar both with air ride. To replace the entire air suspension is around $10k. Strutmaster offers a very reasonable solution and I can tell you neither customer was unhappy, they both loved that they could save money and have peace of mind that they won't expect another expensive air spring replacement. I will continue to use strutmasters for my future conversions.

2004-2009 Jaguar XJ8 4 Wheel Air Suspension Conversion Kit with Light Fix Module (JA14FM)

The rear shock install was very easy, and went together like clock work. The front shocks, had a little issue. They have too large a nut welded on the bottom of the struts for the front. I installed mine and had to end up cutting 1/8 inch off the nut to clear other components.......installed the bottom bolt they sent with the struts, and had to remove it and install the factory original bolt, because the bolt they sent was so long, it interfered with front suspension (front arm of lower control assy.)...other than that, it was great and the customer loved the new look and ride.

I have replaced the air ride system on both of our XJ8 Jaguars. The ride is very good and customer service was excellent. I would give 5 stars but both vehicles developed a slight clunk that I feel and hear when hitting certain bumps. Tec support recommended tightening the main yoke and top shock bolt that might have loosened. I'm hopeful this will take care of the slight clunk. All in all, very satisfied with Strutmaster.

I reluctantly purchase the coil overs because I loved the air struts in my 2007 Jaguar XJL. The problem is that the air struts are too expensive to replace. Mine lasted almost 160k. I was also having issues in the winter with the car dropping under 30F. These replacements are fantástic. Not particularly hard to install plus Sttutmasters provides a module with instructions to take care of the suspension light. The ride quality is a touch stiffer the than air suspension. I had comfort. You get used to them very quickly. Plus on turns the car rolls less. Love the replacements. The stance of the car is excellent with the coil overs. I am very happy with the purchase and quality. I drive the car about 2500 miles per month. No issues and no more worries about the air struts sinking in the winter.

Was having issues with the air ride system and having to replaced bags every two years. So expensive, I could not replace in sets but in pairs. Because of that I could never get that pesty fault code to stay off. I made the hard decision to converted from air bags to coils/struts. Not only does the bypass for the fault works perfectly that comes in this kit, the ride is great, price is good and I'm enjoy the peace of driving my 2004 Jaguar XJ8 again. Ordering was super simple. Poor fit in the front shocks to the extent I needed spacers to make it fit. The rear shocks fit even worse the bolt studs are so short I could barely get a bolt on the stud. The stud didn’t even go all the way past the top of the bolt. They also failed to include the dash module bypass and wanted to charge me again for the part, when pulling a 10 amp fuse did the same thing. I would never buy from them again nor recommend them to anyone.

The attaching bracket on the front struts was bowed out and would not allow the the bolt to go through, so had to remove the struts, requiring a press to squeeze them together properly. The welded on nut for that bolt was too thick and hit the frame, so the nut had to be ground down to fit. This indicates the quality control folks aren't doing their job and cost me extra time and effort to install. Once done, the car rode fine.

Struts were everything I read about. My 08 Shaguar xJ Vanden Plas is nice and smooth as if the air ride were 100% all the time. It looks perfect, rides perfect. All you Jag enthusiasts that have put a "pin" in that grenade of whether to convert or not, pull the pin and convert the air ride to Shocks. I wish I would've done it sooner.
