  • This kit fits the REAR of EL (extended length) model vehicles ONLY.

Replaced Components
The 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL is built with the following suspension components: 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Air Struts (x2)- conventional struts that use a rubber air spring instead of a traditional steel coil spring. The air springs, commonly referred to as air bags, are made of plastic and rubber and use pressurized air to support the weight of the vehicle. Cracks develop in the rubber due to normal wear and tear and this is the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air struts all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the other one is too. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Solenoids (x2)- This vehicle is equipped with 4 solenoids. These plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module. The solenoids are responsible for regulating the air pressure in each air spring or air shock. Solenoids are a small piece of the suspension system but they play a big role in how well it functions. If a solenoid is not working properly, it will cause the vehicle to be unlevel and, in turn, cause the compressor to burn out. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Compressor- This vehicle is equipped with one air suspension compressor. The compressor is responsible for pumping up the air springs and shocks. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor is forced to run continuously to try and keep the air springs inflated. After a couple of days of running non-stop, the compressor will burn itself out. Replacing the compressor is a timely and expensive project to undertake. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Dryer Assembly- This vehicle is equipped with a dryer assembly. The dryer assembly is responsible for getting moisture out of the air lines. Once the air suspension parts start to leak, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension components from the inside out. The dryer must be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to prevent further damage. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Suspension Control Module- This vehicle is equipped with a suspension control module. This module is the brain of the suspension system and it reads all of the signals that are being sent by the height sensors and determines if the vehicle needs to be raised or lowered. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
Your 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL might be suffering from failed or leaking air suspension. Know the common signs so that you can properly diagnose it, if and when it occurs. There are a couple things you want to look for. The most obvious sign of suspension total failure is a loss of ride height in the rear of the vehicle -- normally from three to five inches lower than the front.  If there is an illuminated suspension warning message on the instrument panel, your Expedition suspension may have already gone bad. Don’t let it go on for too long without repair- other components will wear out. Check the air suspension compressor- if it is no longer working, or running too long (longer than 15-20 seconds maximum), then this has already begun. Any visible cracks on your rear air springs have been caused by dry rot and will require replacement, too.  Some cracks in the rubber of the air springs may not be visible until they are removed from the vehicle.

Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 31 reviews.

Kit worked perfect for my clients navigator. When you get tired of chasing problems in the air ride system this is the move. Everything bolted in perfectly. Only thing I could ask for is some ride height adjustability. Otherwise this is perfect.

2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Rear Suspension Conversion Kit (FU3RB)

Bought rear struts only . Didn't realize I wouldn't be able to buy the front struts . She told me l would have to go elsewhere to buy the fronts. The tech said maybe they could split off ,from full set, since had just bought the rear struts . I was told they dont carry the fronts hope they would make something work for me.

2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Rear Suspension Conversion Kit (FU3RB)

Chuck the nuts they give you, they're crimped into locking nuts in such a way as you can't get a ratcheting wrench on them. Also, drop the lower control arm, don't mess with the brakes or ball joints or any of that, just the shock bolt (30mm @ 250lbft), the LCA pivot bolt (27mm), the height adjuster rod and the 3 nuts on top of the strut. Also, and I can't stress this enough, you MUST jack up the whole rear end, BOTH tires off the ground, for this to work, otherwise you have to remove the brakes and sway bar. Otherwise, great kit, well made in the USA and very easy installation. I know it's more expensive than Brand-X, but it was nice knowing it would guaranteed work. Five stars.

Customer photo review of 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Rear Suspension Conversion Kit (FU3RB)

Parts go in fairly easily. Found it easier to unbolt lower control arm from frame to remove/install new coil over springs then place floor back under spring and raise control arm while using tie down strap to pull arm over to raise/align.

Customer photo review of 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Rear Suspension Conversion Kit (FU3RB)

I recently replaced the Factory Air Suspension on my 2011 Ford Expedition EL 4x4 King Ranch with 380k miles. The rear suspension was starting to leak down after a Day or 2. The Bag developed a leak most likely due to Age, and the System was running off of the Air Pump. I determined that this problem needed to be fixed. I took my Expedition to my local Ford Dealership and they recommended replacing the Air Suspension with Strutmasters rear Struts. The new Struts added some much needed height to the Rear Suspension. The Replacement Struts are Cold Rolled Steel and should not compress. The cost of the Strutmasters Struts were about $650 which included an Electronic Module that tells the Vehicles System that the Air Suspension is UnInstalled.(Also a phone# was given for Tech Support to Install the Electronic Module, which was needed)The Installation cost was about $450, so the cost for Struts and Installation was $1,100. Oh, the replacement cost for an aftermarket Air Suspension would have been approx $5,000. I've had the System for about 1 week, and I've driven it cross Country. So far so Good. In closing, when I did some research I saw that leaking Air Suspensions were a relatively common problem. In my opinion the Strutmasters Rear Strut Replacement is an excellent solution for this problem. I hope my review is of value to people considering replacing their leaking Air Suspension.

Customer photo review of 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Rear Suspension Conversion Kit (FU3RB)

Hi, The struts are easy to install with the help of Youtube. The instructions that come with the struts are not for a Ford Expedition. But that's ok. The biggest disappointment is that the rear my car is now 2" higher and it looks bad. My car used to be level and I liked it that way. It says on the instructions that the new struts don't affect the height of the vehicule, it does. See attached pictures.

Vehicle had blown rear air bags, sourced strut conversion kit, stut master came up, called talked to a tech ordered the parts came in a day early, and vehicle sat like it still had air bag system installed, very happy, will order again in future
