The old suspension was very difficult to get off due to some corrosion. Once that was removed, the strut masters, struts and shocks were absolutely super easy to install and work like a dream. The week we installed them, my family left for a trip from Southern Ohio to Central Florida and the car drove better than it has in a long time.

Got rid of the bags in my 19 Armada, and replaced them with SM conversion kit, struts and shocks. Immediately felt the difference. Not as much bouncing around, dont have to wait on inflation of air bags, rear sag due to uninflated bags, and not to mention how easy the swap was! I now need to replace the front suspension, and will be ordering what I need from Strut Masters.

After a few costly repairs of my Armada's rear suspension, I decided to purchase and install a conversion kit. I'm not a mechanic, but I had an issue with a nut that got stripped that was welded on the lower control arm. I called support and they recommended i use a tap and try to rethread the nut. The 2016-2023 Nissan Armada is built with the following suspension components:

2016-2023 Nissan Armada Rear Air Shocks (x2) - A rubber bladder atop the shock itself fills with air to automatically keep the vehicle level and assist with the ride quality. The rubber portion of the air shock is the most common cause of leaks in the air system. The rubber portion develops cracks due to normal wear and tear and dry rot from exposure to the elements. The cracks leak air from the system and cause the onboard compressor to work overtime.

2016-2023 Nissan Armada Height Sensors (x2) - A linkage located near each wheel that constantly measures the height of the vehicle and reports this information back to the control module (computer). The ride height sensor is a moving part and they will eventually wear out.

2016-2023 Nissan Armada Front Coil-over Struts (x2) - Metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid (similar to a shock absorber) that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce bouncing motion and vibration caused by travel on rough surfaces. Coil-over struts have a coil spring seated at the top which controls the height of the vehicle. Over time, the fluids leak out of the struts from millions of up and down cycles and they need to be replaced. Coil springs can become weakened on a high-mileage vehicle, too.

2016-2023 Nissan Armada Air Lines - Tubes that carry pressurized air to the rubber bladder in the air shocks.

2016-2023 Nissan Armada Air Compressor Assembly - Creates and sends pressurized air to the rear air shocks. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor (also known as an air pump) starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, the compressor will either have failed totally or it will still run, but no longer be able to make enough air to do the job.

Suspension Failure Signs

The most common symptom of a leaking or failed air suspension is a sudden loss of two to four inches of ride height in the rear of the vehicle. Other symptoms could include a suspension warning message or light in the instrument cluster and/or an air compressor no longer working or running way too often (which would be very noisy and noticeable). Failed rear air shocks will also result in poor ride quality in the rear of the vehicle.
